Local girls help NSW to victory at cricket national champs
GRAFTON'S Amy Riddell can add an Under-15 female national championships win to her sporting resume after helping New South Wales to a 70-run win over Victoria in yesterday's final.
Riddell and Harwood cricketer Carly Leeson both played leading hands in the final.
It is Leeson's second series win, after being part of the undefeated NSW team last year.
NSW qualified for the final after a 67-run win in their last group match against South Australia.
Leeson smashed 52 from 48 balls, including nine fours, in the NSW total of 8-207. South Australia finished at 140 in their chase, with Riddell grabbing 1-31 from eight overs and Leeson finishing with 0-15 from four overs.
Not including the final, Leeson finished the series with 125 runs, while Riddell scored 32 runs and three wickets.
Fellow Grafton cricketer Shinae Macdonald has performed solidly for ACT in its tilt at success.
ACT finished fourth on the table after the six group matches, with Macdonald finishing the series with 23 runs and three wickets.
