Seniors enjoy special gallery tour

TO celebrate Seniors Week (March 20-27), a small group of elderly Clarence Valley residents were yesterday invited on a special tour of renowned photographer Max Dupain’s exhibition at the Grafton Regional Gallery.

Two of the participants, Doreen Bellamy and Verna Sampson, jumped at the opportunity to be involved.

“I think the exhibition is a very cultural experience and I was only at the gallery three months ago when they were showing a pottery exhibition,” Mrs Bellamy said.

“I’ve had a quiet Seniors Week so far, so it’s nice to come out with a few friendly faces.”

In contrast, Mrs Sampson’s week hasn’t been too quiet – far from it.

After celebrating her 90th birthday with friends and family on Sunday, the spritely Copmanhurst resident decided to celebrate Seniors Week by accompanying her friends to the gallery.

Camille Moreton, from Clarence Valley Community Programs, also accompanied the group on their tour.

“She looks after us,” Mrs Bellamy smiled.

“She keeps us out of mischief.”
