Simon's ready for dream career

IN LATE 2006, Simon Blandford began taking a massive step towards his dream career, and so far he has no regrets about completing an apprenticeship as a mechanic at Al's Mechanical.

“I had decided I wanted to be a mechanic so came in and persistently annoyed Al until he gave me a job, and haven't looked back since”, said the 22-year-old as he peered over the engine of a ute in the workshop.

“The job can be very rewarding. Sometimes it's a pain, but every job has its downside.

“I'm now a fully qualified mechanic and have worked with the V8s on two occasions” said Simon, before revealing he is currently in talks with one of the teams.

“I'm a Ford fanatic, so I've certainly got my fingers crossed for a good outcome in that regard.”

When he isn't at work, Simon enjoys going fishing and camping, tinkering with his LandCruiser, and going on outings with the Grafton 4WD Club.
