Tasman trip for jewel junkie

MAKING the trip across the Tasman for Grafton Artsfest was no trouble for Shannon O'Shea.

The Auckland local was more than willing to jump on a plane to follow jewellery making tutor Diane Southwell to Grafton.

"I did a course with Diane about six years ago in Adelaide and I saw she was coming to Grafton, and thought why not," she said.

"It's really good to have a week long focus on something, so everything you are learning is being absorbed."

While she has followed Diane around a little, Shannon thinks that learning from different instructors is extremely beneficial.

"Ever tutor has a different way of doing things, and you get to learn a range of different techniques."

In the future, Shannon says that she would possibly like to make and sell her jewellery, but for now, she is having loads of fun making her jewellery for herself.
