Magpies ready for Marist Brothers

LOWER Clarence Magpies have put last week’s woeful performance against Murwillumbah in the waste basket and are focusing on their round 3 away game against Marist Brothers.

And in a bid to get their season back on track coach Ricky Binge has made some wholesale changes to his inexperienced side.

“We got found out against Murwillumbah last week and lacked speed out wide,” he said.

“I’ve moved Luke Vial and Paul MacDermott back into the forwards and Jack Shepherd will partner Dan Randall in the centres.

“Dan has been jumping out of his skin at training and will provide us with a lot of spark in the backs.”

In a brave move, Binge has switched regular five-eighth and captain Anthony Hickling to fullback with Jason James moving to the all important halfback role.

“Jason is a halfback by trade and played under-18s last season. He came on for the last 10 minutes against Murwillumbah and shone,” Binge said.
