Lucky escape from car crash

IT WAS a very lucky escape for three people who were involved in a head on collision on the Gwydir Highway yesterday with everyone walking away without serious injury.

The crash happened just outside of South Grafton at noon on Thursday.

"A 42-year-old male was transported to Coffs Harbour in a very stable condition," an ambulance officer who attended the scene said.

"The son, who was unhurt, accompanied his father."

The driver of the other vehicle refused medical attention.

"It was very lucky that there were no serious injuries," the attending ambulance officer said.

A police spokesman said this was a timely reminder for people to take care on the roads at all times, especially with the greater volume of traffic during the upcoming school holiday period.
