Lue cuts to the chase with police

Lue, a six-year old gelding, took police on a merry trot around Grafton early yesterday morning before being corralled by local jockey Craig Franklin in Shopping World car park.

The horse escaped from its paddock in Powell St about 3.30am and ran haphazardly around Prince, Villiers and Fitzroy Sts avoiding police officers who gave chase.

Mr Franklin answered the police request for help and with head rope and chaff bag in-hand was able to restrain the beast.

"In the car park it didn't have anywhere to go. It was pretty frightened; dogs had probably been chasing it," he said.
