Maclean and District Orchid Society January report

The Next meeting is on Saturday February 20. Plants are benched by 1pm; then after the judging, the meeting begins 1.30pm. Includes lucky door and raffle prizes, plus afternoon tea. Nature enthusiasts welcome.

A couple of interesting, enjoyable power point presentations were provided last month, by President Terry Bird on a helpful potting demo, and long-time member Ken Woods, on the ever spectacular Floriade, plus the Tulip Festival.

76 lovely plants were admired and assessed in January. Terry and Penny Bird won Popular Vote Orchid with the classic Paphiopedilum, Saint Swithin 'Jill'; while Neil and Carol Campbell won Judges' Choice Orchid with that eye-catcher, Dendrobium CKai Oka.

In the Flower section, Brian Donaghy scored both Judges' Choice and Popular Vote, Dahlias 'Anne's Delight' and 'Tiger Bay' respectively.
