Maclean Hotel to go on the market

ALTHOUGH a date has not been set, receivers have confirmed they plan to sell the Maclean Hotel along with nine other properties owned in the Maclean area by Lanai Pty Ltd and Gulmarrad Developments Pty Ltd.

It is understood these companies are owned by Maclean developer Andrew Baker who was elected to Clarence Valley Council last week.

A statement from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) said part- ners Greg Hall and David Pratt were appointed receivers and managers of Maclean Hotel Holdings under "a fixed and floating charge" on August 20.

Mr Hall and Mr Pratt were also appointed to nine properties in and around the Maclean township under the registered mortgages of those properties, including four tenanted premises and some development land.

"Our intention is to sell all of the assets through a sale process, the details of which are yet to be finalised," said Mr Hall.

"For the time being it's business as usual at the hotel."

PWC confirmed receivers and managers had not been appointed to any other assets associated with Mr Baker nor had they compiled a list of creditors.

Mr Baker was unavailable for comment last night as he was attending a Clarence Ahead function.
