Magpies happy to be going to wall

THE 2010 edition of the Lower Clarence Magpies rugby league club’s calendar has been launched, and boy has it been well received.

The limited edition and souvenir calendar features photos that capture the premiership-winning 2009 Magpies’ skill as footballers, fathers and newly wedded husbands. It includes many highlights from throughout the successful year and a few personal shots that show a very different side of the players.

Magpies president Garry Anderson said he is extremely proud of the product and hopes there will be many hanging on the walls of Clarence Valley homes. “Grand finals are very rare events and this is a brilliant way to cherish those special moments,” he said.

Each page features a large print of a defining moment of the season, captions, comments and quotes from notable sportsmen and women.

Also included in the package is a DVD of the 2009 grand final and the back cover of the calendar features photos from the 1925, 1935, 1965 and 1984 premierships.

“There are a few interesting things that we have discovered while doing the calendar,” Garry said. “Of the five teams that have won premierships, four of them have had a member of the Laurie family on their side.”

The calendar can be purchased from the Yamba Bowling Club, however, Garry is looking for other places to sell it. You can grab one for $39.99 or two for $70.
