Editorial - Monday, October 14: Main attractions line up

THERE is no underestimating the power of hosting events in our region.

Take this weekend for example, the Yamba triathlon brought loads of people to town for the course of the event, and with the basketball carnival happening in Grafton, there's another 700 or so players and spectators.

It is events like these that inject a big boost into the local economy - and that's good for everyone.

And in just a few short days, it will all be happening again on an even bigger scale as we count down to the Jacaranda Festival.

Being a newbie to town, I can't speak from experience when I say the town will be chockas with visitors and locals getting among the buzz, but I can say from the amount of times I have seen segments about the festival on travel shows or the news and the way the local businesses are preparing - it's going to be huge.

So start getting your purple gear together, Grafton, and embrace what the festival has to offer.
