Man, 19, dies after Coutts Crossing crash

A MAN has died following a crash at Coutts Crossing overnight.

About 2am today, passersby noticed a Mitsubishi FTO coupe had hit a tree on Burragan Rd.

The 19-year-old male driver was trapped inside.

Emergency services were notified and the injured man was flown by Westpac Rescue Helicopter to the Gold Coast Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

He has since died in hospital.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command are investigating the incident and believe the crash may have happened just after 10pm on Friday, when the man left a nearby camp site.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or may have seen the vehicle prior to it being discovered this morning, is urged to come forward and provide a statement to investigators.
