Man suffers serious head injuries

A YOUNG man has suffered serious head injuries after he fell from the boot of a moving vehicle in Inverell last night.

About 8.45pm, (Monday 16 May), police were called to Henderson Lane where they located the 21-year-old man lying on the road.

He was taken to Inverell Hospital before being airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital with serious head injuries.

It appears he may have fallen while standing on the boot of a car being driven by a 19-year-old man.

A crime scene has been established and forensic police and crash investigators are conducting further inquiries.

The driver is assisting police with the investigation at Inverell Police Station.
