Man, 36, bashed with fence paling in Coffs Harbour

POLICE are appealing for public help after a man was assaulted in Coffs Harbour on Saturday night.

Police said the 36 year old man was walking on Argyll Street around midnight when he was approached by at least two people.

They said the man was hit around the head and body with a fence paling.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by forensic specialists.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus where he was treated for lacerations to his right hand and possible skull fractures.

There are no descriptions of the people involved at this stage.
