Man allegedly abducted, raped, tortured, robbed at Noosa

THREE men have been charged following an alleged abduction, rape and torture of a man at Noosa.

A police spokesman said on February 28 about 10.30pm two men allegedly attended a McKinnon Dr bus stop where they forced a 48-year-old man from his car into another car.

Police allege the man was driven around in the car and raped, assaulted, tortured and robbed before being dumped in Beerwah at around 1.00am.

A 48-year-old Tewantin man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, rape, attempted robbery and deprivation of liberty.

A 48-year-old Nambour man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, rape, attempted robbery and deprivation of liberty.

A 55-year-old Noosaville man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm, torture, rape, attempted robbery and deprivation of liberty.

All three appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.

The men were denied bail when they appeared this morning.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy, after reading a police objection to bail and hearing their lawyers' submissions, refused their release "for the protection of the victim" and to a lesser extent, the risk they may fail to appear in court at a later date.

They were remanded in custody for committal mention on April 27 but could still make further application for bail in the Supreme Court.
