Police allege that Moore in the company of another man and woman became involved in an argument with the 50-year-old at the intersection of Edgar and Collingwood streets on Sunday about 4.45pm.

It's alleged the trio were armed with a metal bar and a piece of wood and the man was assaulted with the weapons.

The 50-year-old man died in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

On Thursday about 6.10pm police attended a hospital at Coffs Harbour and arrested a 24-year-old man and took him to Coffs Harbour Police Station.

He was charged with murder and refused bail.

He has since been remanded in custody after a brief appearance in the Coffs Harbour Local Court.

The case has been adjourned until Tuesday, November 27.

Moore is the third person to be charged in relation to this incident after a 41-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray on Tuesday.
