Coutts Crossing crash victim lost control of car at crest

UPDATE, MONDAY 2PM: More details have been released relating to the fatal single-vehicle crash near Coutts Crossing on Friday evening.

Police believe the 30-year-old male victim was travelling east on Kangaroo Creek Road when he had begun to turn right over a crest and for unknown reasons lost control of his car. It appears he may have died on impact.

Police say there were no witnesses to the collision and investigations are still ongoing.

EARLIER: A man has died following a single-vehicle crash south of Grafton overnight.

At about 8.30pm on Friday night , emergency services were called to Kangaroo Creek Road, Coutts Crossing, where a man was reported trapped after his vehicle had left the road and hit a tree.

Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and local SES volunteers arrived to find the driver had already died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
