Man rushed to hospital after ‘chainsaw attack’

TWO men will face court today after a 63-year-old man was allegedly attacked with a chainsaw in Sydney's inner west.

The victim was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he was treated to cuts to his head and bruising.

The man and his wife were inside their unit in Albion Lane, Annandale about 5.30pm last night when three men walked through an open front door.

The pair asked the men what they were doing, a scuffle ensured and the occupant chased the three out of the unit downstairs into the laneway where one of the men ran to a nearby garage and grabbed an electric chainsaw.

He allegedly assaulted the 63-year-old man with the tool before the trio ran towards Johnston Street.

About 6pm police from Leichhardt located two of the men in a nearby hotel.

They were taken to Newtown Police Station where a 21-year-old man was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence and common assault.

The second man, aged 20, was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent, and common assault.

They were refused bail and will appear in Newtown Local Court today.

Investigations continue into the whereabouts of the third man.
