Man rushed to Sydney with head injuries

A SOUTH Grafton man, 22, was flown to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital with serious head injuries following a single vehicle car crash on the outskirts of South Grafton early on Saturday morning.

Police said it was about 1.45am when the man’s white Subaru Forester left the road and hit a guard rail and pylons of a small bridge near Cowans Pond on the Gwydir Highway.

The vehicle came to rest in the pond, police said.

A passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries, but the driver had to be airlifted to Sydney.

The cause of the accident was unknown.
