Man stabbed and locked in car boot

POLICE are hunting a 41-year-old man after a 62-year-old male was stabbed 27 times and bundled into the boot of a car on Saturday.

Police said the men were driving on Kyogle Rd between Murwillumbah and Uki when it was believed they had an altercation.

After stopping the car it is believed the driver punched his passenger in the face before stabbing him 27 times.

According to police, the victim then attempted to flee but was chased and caught before being forced into the boot of the vehicle.

The victim told police he forced the lock and jumped out as the car slowed around a bend.

The victim is listed as in a serious but stable condition at Tweed Heads Hospital.

The man wanted for questioning was last seen driving a silver Mazda 626 sedan on Kyogle Rd between Murwillumbah and Uki

He is described as of Caucasian appearance, about 190cm tall, medium build, with short black hair and heavily tattooed arms and legs.

At the time of the alleged incident he was wearing a yellow T-shirt, blue jeans, and black/grey-coloured sunglasses.
