Manslaughter charge over hwy fatal

POLICE have arrested and charged a Tyndale man with manslaughter over a fatal crash on the North Coast almost three weeks ago.

A 43-year-old man was driving a silver-coloured Ford Falcon XR6 sedan at speed along the Pacific Highway at Tabbimoble, about 6.15am on Wednesday, February 5, when it careered off the roadway and into trees.

A 14-year-old boy, who was the front-seat passenger, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. A 14-year-old girl, who was a rear-seat passenger, sustained

serious pelvic and leg fractures.

The driver has been granted conditional bail to appear in Grafton Local Court on Monday, March 28.

Meanwhile, police have not released the identity of either of the two men who died in separate road accidents in the Clarence Valley on Thursday.

A man, believed to be from Grafton, was killed near Whiporie when his car and a semi-

trailer collided. About two hours later a 59-year-old Queensland motorcyclist, who was a member of The Black Uhlans Motorcycle Club, was killed when he lost control of his bike and fell on the Pacific Highway near Glenugie.
