Top runner to attend BNT dinner
ULTRA-marathon runner Richard Bowles will be guest speaker at Saturday's annual meeting of the Bicentennial National Trail at Ebor.
Mr Bowles this September finished running the entire length of the National Trail, a staggering 5000km from Healesville in Victoria to Cooktown in Far North Queensland, raising money for the SANE mental health foundation.
The venue for the meeting will be the luxurious Yaraandoo Eco-lodge adjacent to New England National Park - halfway point of the Trail and midway between its two most demanding sections, the Guy Fawkes Wilderness and the Macleay River.
The meeting will be open all weekend for locals interested to learn more about the BNT.
Anyone interested in wilderness activities is encouraged to check out the displays of BNT memorabilia, books, merchandise and equipment.
An invitation is also open to attend the dinner on Saturday night, the "dawn chorus" breakfast at Point Lookout and the Sunday lunch barbecue at Georges Junction on the Macleay River."
As well as long-distance trekkers, the BNT caters for family weekend walks, Duke of Edinburgh awards and fundraisers such as Richard Bowles'.
