Farmer Lous get the public nod for a third time in a row
MARIA Felice could hardly believe her ears, let alone get her words out, when family business Farmer Lou's took out yet another People's Choice Favourite Business award at The Daily Examiner Clarence Valley Business Excellence Awards.
In what was a hat-trick win for the business, Ms Felice said she could not believe they had done it again.
"We came here tonight hoping to win for the third time, but I was just blown away when we actually did!" she said after the shock had slightly worn off.
"But it's not undeserved - we have been working hard and all the staff have been involved with the whole awards process, getting customers to vote at the registers and telling people about it."
The People's Choice Favourite Business Award has only been alive for three years, yet to fall into any other hand except the Felice family.
"I think it comes down to the family concept of mum and dad, the kids and now grandkids running the shop," Ms Felice said.
"We put a lot of focus on customer service, the quality of the produce, and that family aspect like literally being handed your bananas by Lou."
And staying true to their Italian surname, the Felice family went home very 'felice' with their award in tow.
"It actually means happy in Italian," she said. "And yes - we are very happy!"
