Mark Nicholas rushed back to hospital

CHANNEL Nine commentator Mark Nicholas has been rushed to hospital for the second time in three days after another episode at the MCG.

Nicholas opened the day-three broadcast for Nine having missed the second day's play following an incident on Boxing Day.

He did several stints in the commentary box on Wednesday, the last of which was during the tea break, but was believed to be in pain and sweating profusely shortly afterwards.

He was assessed by Cricket Australia's team doctor Peter Brukner before being taken out of the media centre on a stretcher and transferred, via ambulance, to Epworth Hospital.

He was conscious and breathing but will undergo tests.

Earlier this week, the 59-year-old was taken from the commentary box by paramedics after suffering from abdominal pains.

Nicholas was not on air at the time, but witnesses say he was sweating profusely and clearly in pain.

His condition improved and he was released from hospital later that night.
