Markets will be on Jaca Thursday

CONTRARY to reports made back in August, the markets that take over the Pound St car park in Grafton on Jacaranda Thursday will go ahead next week following a name and management change.

The markets will now be known as Markets on Pound, and have no affiliation with the Jacaranda Festival, says organiser Valma Ryan.

"We have been liaising with the festival committee, however, we are completely independent," she said. "We organise the Iluka markets and took on the task of organising Markets on Pound because we started getting calls from all over as they were concerned that they wouldn't go ahead."

Valma said there were about 70 stalls involved in the markets.

"I was a stallholder long before I was an organiser, so I will be looking at how things run from a stallholder's point of view, as well as a market goer to make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone has a great experience with Markets on Pound."
