A COUPLE who tied the knot this summer after meeting at university have discovered they actually first met 20 years ago.
Heidi and Edward Savitt, 26, who met in 2011 while students at Newcastle University, were having dinner recently with their mothers when it was mentioned she had a holiday boyfriend.
Kay Parker, Heidi's mother, explained that for two weeks her daughter, then 6, had a "holiday romance" with a boy called Ed while they were staying in Gumbet, Turkey, with whom she would hold hands.
It was put down to coincidence and the conversation soon moved onto other things.
However, two weeks later Kay was poking around in the attic of her home when she unearthed a 20-year-old photo album, reported Mail Online.
It had snaps from the family's holiday and she immediately recognised that the boy called Ed was the same Ed her daughter had married two decades later.
She immediately got in touch with Ed's mum, Fiona, and the images of the pair went viral on social media among their friends and family.
"I was screaming - it was just unreal," Kay said. "Of course, I sent it to Fiona. Then loads more photographs came out.
"None of us had any idea whatsoever that Heidi and Ed had met before university. But during that two-week holiday, they held hands most of the time.
"Perhaps they just had a subconscious realisation they had shared that time together when they met as adults."
At university the couple met after Ed moved into a student house previously lived in by Heidi.
He couldn't figure out how to work tumble dryer and messaged Heidi after finding her name on some mail.
The pair soon started going out and have been inseparable ever since.
"It's crazy to think we could have got married, shared our lives together, but then never found out about this," Heidi said.
"From the moment we started dating we were inseparable and knew we were going to be together forever."
