A HUGE weekend of rugby - both international and local - is upon us and will kick off with the Grafton Redmen under-16s playing for the Chris Lomax Shield at Lismore tonight.

The young Redmen have reached their first grand final as a playing group and are hoping to knock off Lismore for the second time this season in the match that matters most.

Grafton defeated Wollongbar 13-10 last Friday to progress to the grand final and will rely on its forward pack to outmuscle the opposition.

Redmens' third grade side and the Yamba Buccaneers, who are aiming to win the Village competition, will head to Lismore for their respective grand finals tomorrow.

On the international stage, the Rugby World Cup also kicks off tonight, with hosts New Zealand clashing with Tonga to open the tournament.
