Masten off to tribunal on biting charge

WEST Coast midfielder Chris Masten has been sent straight to the AFL Tribunal on a biting charge after Sunday's fiery derby against arch-rivals Fremantle.

Masten (pictured) was charged with misconduct after an incident involving Dockers opponent Nick Suban during the third-quarter of the clash at Domain Stadium.

Fremantle's Alex Silvagni was also referred straight to the tribunal from an incident in the second quarter of the same game that left West Coast midfielder Jamie Cripps with a suspected fractured jaw. Cripps had to be helped from the ground by trainers and was subbed out for 20 minutes under the concussion rule after copping an elbow to the face about 70m off the ball.

Meanwhile, Collingwood defender Nathan Brown and North Melbourne's Jack Ziebell can accept one-match bans for separate incidents.

Ziebell will miss North's clash with Fremantle if he pleads guilty to striking St Kilda's Jack Newnes.
