Matildas have to turn around quick for Jordan

AFTER a physically taxing 2-all draw against world champion Japan on Wednesday night, the Matildas have been forced to back up quickly for their second Asian Cup clash against Jordan tonight.

The reigning Asian Cup champions are expected to win this Group-A fixture, with Jordan going down 3-1 to host Vietnam in the opening game of the tournament.

The Aussies got off to a scorching start against the Japanese with goals to Caitlin Foord and Lisa De Vanna (pictured) after an hour of play. But Japan stormed back courtesy of an own goal to Clare Polkinghorne, before first-half substitute Yuki Ogimi levelled in the 84th minute, to leave both teams with a point.

Vietnam went to the top of the group with its 3-1 over Jordan, scoring its third goal with seven minutes left to seal the contest.

The Aussies play Vietnam on Sunday.
