Former Warwick boy Matt strips for Ellen DeGeneres

THERE was pride oozing from lounge rooms across the Rose City on Monday as we watched former Warwick boy Matt Chapman in hot pink jocks on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Crowned Ellen's Mr Sydney underwear model when she visited the land Down Under earlier this year, Matt was given a 50/50 chance of becoming Mr Australia - the face and body of her new underwear line.

He and his girlfriend were shoved onto a plane with Ellen and her entourage, taken to Melbourne to watch the crowning of his rival and then off to LA for the final judging on her live show.

"It all just happened so quickly in the last month," said Matt, who touched back down in Australia yesterday.

In true Ellen style, the winner was decided through a game of Twister-Hoopla.

Unfortunately it was the Victorian who took out the winning place, but an excited and grateful Matt said he could not be more appreciative of the whole experience.

"It was really great - we were treated so well and we were given a driver the whole time we were in LA and were taken as VIPs to Disneyland," Matt said.

"The most memorable moment of the whole experience for me was probably just before I went on stage in Sydney.

"Because I used to be overweight, this was sort of a milestone for me and I just thought 'yeah, this is pretty cool'."

For any personal trainer/aspiring model wanting some exposure, getting on the Ellen Show is the ultimate way to do so, and for Matt, this is only the beginning.

"My vision is to go down the Michelle Bridges path - build my own brand," he said.

"I've started writing a book and I'd like to get into some media work and continue to help my clients out."

Back in the country only a day and Matt is already off to a gig casting today. Fingers crossed from this end of the country, Matt!
