MCAULEY Catholic College head into the DEX Shield finals in a strong position to win some silverware.

The school progressed in both Opens and Years 9/10 divisions, including an undefeated run in the older age group during round matches played at Westward Park yesterday.

"It's incredibly exciting," McAuley coach Louise Maybury said. "Our open girls played lovely netball today. Ashleigh Warby was excellent in defence, Kelly Saye in the shooting circle and everyone played their part."

It will be a nervous wait, however, with both Warby and Saye picking up injuries. The final is against South Grafton on August 13.

"It should be a really close game that will go right down to the wire," Maybury said. "But I'd like to think we can finish on top."

South Grafton will also be represented in 7/8s against CVAS while McAuley play Grafton in 9/10s.
