McGregor: 'Tell Floyd and Showtime, I'm coming'

MMA: Having conquered the octagon - becoming the first fighter to secure two belts in the UFC - Conor McGregor has set his sights on the boxing ring. And in particular Floyd Mayweather.

After the American, who recently retired with a 49-0 win-loss record, took exception to having the Irishman compared to him, McGregor fired back, telling fans at a New York nightspot he would fight Mayweather "under boxing rules” ... for "$100 million”.

"Tell Floyd and Showtime, I'm coming. Tell him to go to them Showtime offices. I want $100 million cash to fight you under boxing rules 'cause he's afraid of a real fight,” he said.

McGregor said he would never get Mayweather on his own turf - the octagon.

"Floyd's not ready for this,” he said. "Much respect to Floyd. He's a solid businessman on what he's been able to do. He's an ... animal at what he's been able to do. But as far as real fighting - as far as true, pure, unarmed combat - Floyd don't want none of this.”

Already the featherweight champion, McGregor claimed the UFC lightweight crown in his second-round knockout over Eddie Alvarez on the weekend.

McGregor will now take time off from fighting as he welcomes the birth of his first child.

In the meantime, challengers will line-up. Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Jose Aldo will be at the head of the queue - and, most likely, not Mayweather.
