McGregor to swap UFC for Game of Thrones role

MMA: UFC superstar Conor McGregor is never short of a word. But the Irishman won't have one line when he appears on Game of Thrones.

UFC president Dana White confirmed McGregor, who is taking a sabbatical from fighting, will make an appearance on the hit fantasy television show.

The catch is the man known as The Notorious will be playing a character who has had his tongue cut out.

His character will reportedly be a crew member aboard the ship The Silence, captained by Euron Greyjoy, who was the one who cut out his tongue.

Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are reportedly UFC fans and keen to get McGregor, in particular, into the seventh season.

"I knew that a few months ago that they were interested in putting him in the show. I'm glad he did it. It'll be great,” White said.
