McMahon adds fuel to undefeated Harwood run

HARWOOD v EASTS: Harwood Hilton spinner Jacob McMahon spun rings around the GDSC Easts middle order as he helped the GDSC Premier League juggernauts maintain their undefeated run through the 2017/18 CRCA season.

McMahon was effortless in his ability to entice the Easts batsmen into playing the wrong stroke as he finished the innings with figures of 4 for 15 off 8 as the opposition slumped to all-out for 121 off 34 overs.

While he removed most of the top middle-order, McMahon was supported by brother Ben McMahon who finished with figures of 2 for 19 off 8 overs as the pair stifled Easts in tandem.

Despite losing both openers Mark Ensbey and Nathan Ensbey for relatively low totals, the run chase never looked in danger for the Harwood side.

Harrison Nicholson (43) and Ben McMahon (41) starred with the willow, putting on a 78-run third wicket stand as Harwood cruised to a seven-wicket victory in the 28th over.

It was a strong effort from the heavyweights who were missing front-line seamers Brandon Honeybrook, Mark Vallette and Daley Durrant with Mitch Niemiec getting the call-up from LCCA first grade. It was the side's first match without Hayden McMahon who has had shoulder surgery.
