AS PART of the bicentennial celebrations in 1988, the staff, students and families of Gulmarrad Public School filled a time capsule with school work, photos and mementos and buried it in the school grounds.

Twenty-five years later it is time to rediscover those memories and there could not be a better occasion than at the Gulmarrad Family Festival and Fete next Saturday (October 19).

In 1988 George Priddle was the teaching principal with two permanent teachers, 59 students and a part-time office lady.

The school continued to grow, with the current enrolment of 191 students supported by a dedicated team of two assistant principals/teachers, nine teachers and 13 support staff, all led by principal Robyn Urquhart.

Mr Rob Miani, who was a teacher at the school in 1988, officiated at the opening of the capsule and is now eager for past students and their families to come, see and collect their memorabilia, enjoy the festivities and, see how much the school has changed over the past 25 years.
