Mid-flight scare for Qantaslink passengers
EMERGENCY crews were on standby at Coffs Harbour Regional Airport last night after instrument failure forced a Qantaslink Dash-8 to make a priority landing.
Police said they were called to the scene at 7.20pm accompanied by NSW Ambulance and NSW Fire and Rescue in order to respond if the plane made a crash landing.
Police said the plane landed safely on the tarmac at the airport with all 39 passengers, crew and pilots aboard flight QF2114 uninjured.
A Qantas spokeswoman said the plane landed 19 minutes late into Coffs Harbour at 7.39pm.
She said an engineer was dispatched to Coffs Harbour to conduct maintenance on the aircraft.
The aircraft was repaired and returned to normal operation this morning.
Thursday night's events parallel an incident in 2013 where a Qantaslink Dash-8 made an emergency landing in Tamworth after it took off from Coffs Harbour Airport bound for Sydney.
