Advertisements for production operators and emergency response team operators went live on seek.com.au, which specified the roles needed to be filled "urgently" or required "an immediate start".

About 140 workers have been striking at the German Creek coal mine since August, over the terms of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements.

Anglo American has not commented, although it is believed the company met with employees about the redundancies on Friday.

While "a challenging commercial environment" is believed to underpin the cuts, coal prices hit US $260/ tonne last week.
