Mission will be milestone for Westpac rescue helicopter

"PLEASE do not take us for granted" is the plea from the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter as it prepares to fly its 7000th mission.

The North Coast-based heli- copter service is sitting on 6999 missions and expects to pass the 7000 mark this weekend.

Air Crew Chief Roger Fry said the milestone was a reminder of the thousands of lives the heli- copter service has saved with the community's support.

"The service has impacted on so many families through the patients we have flown and the many lives that have been affected," Mr Fry said.

"We need the community's support more than ever right now as the current difficult economic times have seen a downturn in donations recently.

"While flying 7000 missions is a major achievement and something that we are proud to have been able to provide to the region, we need ongoing support to help ensure we can continue to perform future missions."
