CLARENCE Valley teams came away with mixed results this weekend.

Grafton Ghosts enjoyed a winning start to their first season of Group 2, while the South Grafton Rebels were their own worst enemy in their loss to Woolgoolga Seahorses.

Lower Clarence Magpies did not fare too much better in their Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League match against Byron Bay Red Devils.

In Far North Coast Rugby Union it was a successful weekend for local teams with wins in almost all grades.

Yamba Buccaneers beat Mullumbimby in their President's Cup match while Grafton Redmen had wins in first, second and under-18 grades against Casino.

Coffs Swans proved too strong for Grafton Tigers in their AFL North Coast clash at Ellem Oval, while both North Coast Football Premier League teams suffered 4-1 losses.
