Brewers and barista to create ‘coffee stout’ at Moffat Beach

A MOFFAT Beach brewer will team up with Sunshine Coast master barista Tim Adams and a Melbourne-based brewery to create a an original, decadent "coffee stout".

Moffat Beach Brewing Co and Temple Brewing Co will combine their brewing talents with the coffee expert as part of Brisbane's Brewvegas festival on Tuesday, March 15.

The caffeinated blend will be created in shiny new stainless steel tanks at Moffat Beach's Blackwater Trading Co.

It's the perfect challenge for Blackwater Trading Co owner Matt Wilson.

"Coffee and beer are two of my favourite things," Mr Wilson said.

"They might seem an interesting combination, however they really work well together in the style of beer we are crafting."

Mr Wilson was "totally stoked and honoured" to host one of Australia's finest coffee professionals, Tim Adams, and Temple Brewing's Glen Harrison for Blackwater Trading Co's inaugural Brewsvegas event, he said.

"Guests will be able to see first hand the stout being crafted by Glenn and myself, and get tips from the Coast's very own coffee guru Tim Adams on the day," he said.

A limited number of local beer and coffee lovers will get to see the brewing process first hand and learn industry secrets from the best in the business.

The collaboration is a truly Aussie affair with speciality foods selected and supplied by Brisbane based wholesale distributor Fino Food and Wine.

"The addition of choice, premium grazing foods and matched tasting ales from our boutique brewery are the finishing touches," Mr Wilson said.

As reported in the Daily, Mr Wilson and wife Sharynne turned their restaurant and coffee shop into a brewery late last year.

"Hosting the Brewsvegas event here at Blackwater Trading Co and collaborating with highly regarded experts really puts us on the craft beer map and stamps our place as a craft beer, gourmet food and premium coffee establishment," he said.

Brewsvegas runs from the 11th to the 20th of March at a variety of venues in and around Brisbane.

The festival was established in 2014 and has grown to over 80 events over the 10-day period.

The Brewsvegas committee state that the event was born "from a love of local beer" and gives local venues and breweries "permission to be brave, bold and create something new. To collaborate and share."

The Quad Collab event is a case in point and one Brewsvegas collaboration not to be missed.
