Moran's 73 gives United victory

A MATCH-WINNING knock of 73 by Dean Moran steered United to a much-needed victory against Harwood on Saturday.

Not even a brilliant 84 not out by Harwood first drop Matt Lebreton was enough to stop United cruising to victory

Batting first, Harwood reached 164 for the loss of only four wickets. In reply, United were three down as they passed the opposition's competitive total.

It was slow going for Harwood before Lebreton decided to force the pace late in the overs.

"They (Harwood) were only about 40 runs after 20-overs," United's Matt Ardrey told the Examiner yesterday.

"They ended up four down with young Ryan Johnson bowling well for us. He ended up with 1-6 off nine overs."

Ardrey, who has been in fine touch with the bat this season, missed out on the runs with teammates Moran and Michael Essex scoring the bulk of the runs.

"Yeah I missed out but Dean got 73 and Michael Essex was 41 not out."
