More room for Holmes family
THE Holmes children are one step closer to getting comfortable accommodation while living in their grandparents' small two-bedroom Grafton home.
Sebastian and Kiara's mother Sheree passed away last year.
Their grandparents Noel and Gloria took them in, but as pensioners have trouble providing all their needs.
They also share the house with Sebastian and Kiara's uncle.
Family friend and Grafton woman Carol Ordish is helping with fundraisers to make life easier for the family.
Mrs Ordish has found a demountable that will go into the backyard, but they still need money for a development application and to renovate the bathroom.
"We've got the landlord to approve it," Mrs Ordish said.
"And a lot of tradies have donated their time and skills.
"These are all busy people. I love it when things get together."
Mrs Ordish said the children currently slept in the living room and the demountable would free up a room in the house.
"It is a step at a time," she said.
Mrs Ordish said the council required a DA for the relocatable home, which costed a few hundred dollars.
She said the demountable was $3,500.
"There will also be extra costs involved for labour and four replacement tyres," she said."The DA process takes three weeks, which is difficult as we have only a little over a week to relocate the home as the owner is shifting."
Donations to help get the relocatable home set up and approved can be made to:
