Nicola raves about Soundwave

NICOLA O’Leary still has the rocking beats of bands like Placebo, Paramore and Motion City Soundtrack ringing in her ears after the 18-year-old had one of the best weekends of her life at the Soundwave music festival in Brisbane.

The festival, held on February 20, lured many Clarence Valley residents north with a great line-up.

“It was my first music festival, although I have been to heaps of concerts before,” Nicola said.

“I was front row in the mosh for Placebo. I nearly got trampled but it was awesome to be so close.”

The teenager, who lives in Grafton, finished high school a couple of months ago and is now working two jobs and saving her pennies before she goes to university next year.

“I work at Hank’s Bakery and at City Beach,” she said.

“Next year, though, I will be moving up to the Gold Coast to study a bachelor of Arts and Literature. Eventually, I would like to become a teacher and travel around Europe and Russia with my job.”
