THE world of gambling can be an enticing seductress with high stake promises creating a thrilling allure to any man.

But the gambling world of Brad Furman's Runner Runner feels more like a passing fancy.

Princeton grad student Richie, played by Justin Timberlake, believes he has been swindled from an online gambling site and travels to Costa Rica to confront online gambling tycoon Ivan Block (Ben Affleck).

Richie is seduced by Block's promise of immense wealth, until he learns the disturbing truth about his benefactor.

When the FBI tries to coerce Richie to help bring down Block, Richie faces his biggest gamble ever attempting to outmanoeuvre the two forces closing in on him.

Sounds thrilling but Runner Runner comes across as one of those predictable stories I have already seen 100 times over. A movie that you could switch on in the background, still enjoy, but it doesn't need your full focus.

The acting in this movie was above average, Affleck portrayed a very interesting gambling tycoon and his assistant and Richie's love interest Rebecca Shafran was played well by Gemma Arterton who had that mysterious good girl in a bad situation, down.

A pretty average movie all around but a quick moving one at only 91min long.
