MP happy with pledge on highway

MEMBER for Clarence Steve Cansdell has welcomed the Federal Government’s pledge to fund further Pacific Highway upgrades.

Mr Cansdell said Federal Transport Minister Anthony Albanese stated this morning on ABC Radio that upgrading the Pacific Highway was one of his top priorities.

He said this worked well with the NSW Liberal-Nationals guarantee to use every possible means available to finish the highway upgrade by 2016.

"We have always been committed to that deadline and Nationals Leader Andrew Stoner reaffirmed that target date recently in Grafton," he said.

"All levels of government – state, federal, Local – have really got to get together to do something about the Pacific Highway, to stop the tragedies, to stop the carnage."
