Mum realises son's dream

LOOKING out along the same stretch of coastline that took her son Paul Morris' life four years ago, Goonellabah mother Maria Bolt knew her son was standing with her in spirit as she made a cherished dream come true.

The teenager, who died along with three friends in a car crash at Broken Head in 2006, had been designing swimwear with his mother before his death.

On Saturday Maria Bolt saw those precious dreams of hers and her son's become a reality as she launched the PMSurf Indigenous Surfwear range at Cape Byron lighthouse.

"It's surreal, knowing the crash happened near here. But this is my country.

"Paul died on Bundjalung country and I know he is standing here with me today," an emotional Ms Bolt said.

The surfwear range features "Pippi", "Stingray" and "Red Ant Dreaming" designs painted by local indigenous artist Digby Moran and were modelled by Maria Bolt'snieces.

"It's an emotional place to be," Ms Bolt said.

"But I knew I had Paul with me. I have found something I love doing and it proves you can always turn something bad into something good."

The swimwear will be sold online at www.pmsurf.com.au.
