PARENTS of today have the assistance of some brilliant smartphone apps to make the world of being a mum or dad a little easier.

We've pulled together five of the best parenting apps we think you should try:

Wonder weeks

This app has won multiple awards and there's a reason why. You can track all the dates of your baby's mental development and notifies you when he or she is making a leap. Babies change and develop extremely quickly, so knowing why bub isn't eating, or sleeping or being fussier than usual will help any mum keep her sanity and truly understand what's happening with her little one.

Chore Bank

This one is brilliant for kids as they get older and start doing chores around the house. It acts as a virtual bank account where kids can earn 'money' for doing each job. For example, cleaning their room may earn them $1. But if they misbehave, money can be withdrawn from the account. This also teaches children they need to work to earn money and how to save. You can even set an interest rate to encourage kid to keep their money in the bank.

Doing chores has never been so fun.

Help me

Created by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, Help Me is designed to keep kids safe but also assist in emergency situations for all ages. The 'Help Me' button sounds a warning and allows you to can send off an SMS text to two nominated 'safety' numbers, as part of your Trusted Safety Network. Included in the text are GPS co-ordinates from where the text was sent, so the sender can be located or a last known place of contact is indicated.

Feed safe

One for breastfeeding mothers, Feed Safe not only answers a lot of common questions about feeding, but it also includes a timer. If you decide to have an occasional alcoholic drink, the app uses your height, weight and alcohol intake to accurately estimate when your breastmilk should be free of alcohol. It will alert you when this time has been reached.

Magic Sleep

This app recreates sounds inside the womb that soothe and ease your baby into sleep. Use it to get your baby to sleep, and send them into a deep slumber. Many mums also reported trying it on themselves with great success!
