Maclean man charged over death

A MAN was arrested and charged yesterday over the death of Maclean mother of seven, Lynette Daley, at 10 Mile Beach, north of Iluka, in January.

The 36 year-old from Maclean was arrested by detectives from Strike Force Column and taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with manslaughter and recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and appeared before Grafton Local court yesterday where he was granted conditional bail to reappear on June 6.

Ms Daley’s body was found on 10 Mile Beach on January 27.

She had camped overnight on the beach following Australia Day celebrations.

Chief Inspector Murray Gillett of Grafton Police previously told the Daily Examiner that Ms Daley and two men camped overnight on 10 Mile Beach about 1km north of the vehicle access at Shark Bay, north of Iluka.

He said the men, who were of Caucasian appearance, lived at Maclean and Tyndale.

“We certainly believe there was alcohol consumed by the woman and the two men, but whether or not that is a contributing factor is yet to be determined,” he said.

Both men assisted police with their inquiries.

Yesterday Grafton Detective Sergeant Graham Burke confirmed the man who had been arrested was one of the men who camped overnight with Ms Daley.

Police said investigations into her death were continuing.

Anybody with any information about the matter is asked to phone Grafton Police on 6642 0222 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
