Baby girl shaken to death before dad sought medical help

Updated report, September 25: A BABY girl allegedly murdered by her father had bleeding on the brain, a broken arm and broken ribs.

News Limited reported that Queensland Police will allege the four-month-old's father was trying to settle the child but dropped her on the floor and when she didn't stop crying he allegedly shook her until she stopped breathing.

The father and his toddler went to hospital but the baby was dead.

Court documents allege the infant had a broken upper left arm and older fractures to her ribs which prevented her from breathing properly.

Initial report, September 24: A MAN charged with murdering his infant daughter was remanded in custody this morning.

The fourth month old baby girl was taken to the Gold Coast hospital in the early hours of Monday morning, but died a short time later, The Brisbane Times has reported.

It is understood the baby suffered physical injuries, including broken bones.

The Surfers Paradise man, 26, who cannot be named for legal reasons, did not apply for bail at Southport Magistrates Court.

News Limited reported the child's mother, 26, faced court in handcuffs charged with cruelty.

She was granted a two week adjournment and will face court on October 8.

Queensland police said the man and woman were charged following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of an infant girl yesterday.

More information as it comes to hand.
