Musical career would put Ben ahead

GRAFTON man Ben Jenkins loves to play the piano and has been playing for about 16 years.

He grew up in a household where music was an everyday occurrence because his father was a band member, playing the guitar and singing.

“I love all sorts of music and I hope to one day make a full-time career out of music, however, at this point in time I’ll stick with my day job,” he said.

Mr Jenkins was taught music by Lyn Philips and Len E. Johnson and his favourite musicians are Oscar Peterson and Ben Harper.

“I like to street perform because it exposes music to people who are walking past you, sometimes it ends in a jam session which is exciting,” he said. “At the moment I am playing at the Alchemy Café at South Grafton on Saturday mornings for the breakfast session, which is a nice way to start the day.”
